Premiere Dance Hillsborough Company dancers recently participated in their 7th Annual Valentine’s Day Service Project to provide care baskets and hand-made Valentine’s Day cards to cancer patients receiving treatment at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
The dancers and families made donations of personal care items ranging from items such as scarves, blankets, lotion, socks, and other goodies. The Premiere Spirit Committee worked together to form and wrap the baskets, and the 2018 Dynamics Seniors and Directors hand delivered the 25 baskets to the patients on Valentine’s Day. This year, the dancers also made cards for children in the Pediatric Center.
Lisa Burton, Assistant Director of the Dynamics Dance Company says, “It was a touching day filled with an outpouring of love. I could see how surprised and happy the patients were, I was gratefully reminded why we do this each year. I have to thank Marybeth Schwarz and the Premiere Spirit Committee who devoted their time and energy to make those beautiful baskets for the patients to brighten their Valentine’s Day.”
Each year, the dancers and families look forward to this event where they get to give back to the community and make others feel loved.
Marybeth Schwarz, member of the Premiere Spirit Committee and Mom of one of our dancers, says, “The Valentine’s basket project is a wonderful opportunity for our fortunate dancers to give back to others. While the donations come from the families, the dancers all have the opportunity to create cards to help bring joy to those suffering through cancer treatments. ”
